Stress with EWS

Help please!!! I have a EWS64L installed on my comp and some days ago, the card died, i still could hear something when using the volume out slider (crrrk, crrrk), but no wav and no midi sound. so i deleted all the card entries in the system control panel, plugged the card into another slot and then restarted the system, the card was detected again and i installed the newest drivers, now all works again, BUT:

every time when win98 is started, i get the error "MMTASK generated an error" (or so), i click ok and booting goes on. then, when i use the cubase ASIO setup panel, my second soundcard, a ARC88 looses all sync buffers. When i start the directX diagnostic program DXDIAG.EXE, i get an error "DDHELP.EXE coused an error in WSTREAM.DLL". this error was once discussed in a topic here, it came up in conjunction with gigasampler and it has been a topic at microsoft directx support, but i cannot find it anymore.

nothing helps, i installed a new directx version now, even older releases...

does anyone know help... thnx very much...

LUCK!!! Solved the problem. If someone ever needs a "solution" for that: In the system ctrl panel select the "Terratec Codec" device (or so), click proerties, select property page "WaveStream" and diable the wavestream functionality. As far as i can see it is only for games or what, however, now both midi and wav playback work fine with everything.....
